Blue & Yellow Poison Dart Frog

Scientific Name: Dendrobates tinctorius

The bright coloration of this species serves as a warning to predators that it is toxic.

Sunset Zoo's blue and yellow poison dark frogs reside in the Wild Wonders room inside the Nature Exploration Center.

  • Size: Length: 1.5 to 2 inches
  • Diet: Ants, termites and other small insects and spiders
  • Habitat: Humid forests that have rocky streams with running water
  • Range in the Wild: South America, lowland forests of the Guianas and Brazil

Conservation Status

Listed as Least Concern. It has a presumed large population and is unlikely to decline.
